Utility Pole Snapped in Late Night Plainview Crash

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. — A driver walked away uninjured after crashing into a utility pole at the intersection of Old Country Road and Round Swamp Road late Friday night.

Nassau County Police and the Plainview Fire Department responded to the intersection just before 11:45 PM on Friday after a driver left the roadway and struck the pole with their SUV, snapping it in half. The top portion of the pole was left leaning against a nearby tree.

Remarkably, the driver was not injured.

PSEG Long Island crews responded promptly to the scene, working to safely replace the damaged pole. There were no reported outages in the area as a result of the collision.
