Basement Fire Breaks Out Overnight in East Islip Home

EAST ISLIP, N.Y. – Firefighters responded to a basement fire early Friday morning on Marilynn Street, prompting several fire departments to respond.

Shortly after 1:20 AM, the East Islip Fire Department was alerted to reports of smoke and flames coming from the basement of the home.

Upon arrival, fire crews observed smoke showing from the residence and quickly began firefighting efforts.

The fire was brought under control quickly. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
