Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle in Freeport
FREEPORT, N.Y. — A 44-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV while crossing a roadway in Freeport late Monday night, according to Nassau County Police.
Police said the collision occurred at approximately 10:05 p.m. near the intersection of North Main Street and Prince Avenue.
According to detectives, a 30-year-old man was operating a 2018 Buick Encore when the vehicle struck the 44-year-old pedestrian as he was crossing North Main Street.
The pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
Police said the driver of the Buick remained at the scene following the collision.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. As of Monday morning, no arrests or charges had been announced.
