Landscaping Truck Overturns on Residential Street in Plainview

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. — Neighbors gathered outside their homes Wednesday afternoon after a landscaping truck towing a trailer overturned on Stratford Road in Plainview, bringing firefighters, police, and heavy-duty tow trucks to the scene.

The Plainview Fire Department and Nassau County Police Department responded to the rollover crash on Stratford Road near Newcastle Avenue at around 11:52 a.m.

According to witnesses, the landscaping truck was traveling southbound on Stratford Road when it began to overturn while negotiating a curve on the residential street. The trailer being towed remained attached during the incident.

The two occupants inside the truck were not injured.

As emergency crews worked at the scene, residents gathered on their front lawns along Stratford Road to watch heavy-duty tow trucks carefully upright the overturned vehicle before removing both the truck and trailer.

The Nassau County Police Department’s Motor Carrier Unit responded to investigate the crash, which is standard procedure for significant collisions involving commercial vehicles.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office also responded to the scene after the truck began leaking fluid after rolling onto its side.

Both the landscaping truck and its trailer were removed from the roadway, and Stratford Road has since reopened to traffic.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
