Person Killed After Being Struck by LIRR Train At Robbins Lane Crossing
SYOSSET, N.Y. — A man was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a Long Island Rail Road train at the Robbins Lane railroad crossing, according to MTA officials.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:19 a.m. when a westbound train that was bound for Penn Station struck the man at the Robbins Lane grade crossing, located just west of Syosset Station.
According to the MTA, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
MTA officials said a preliminary investigation, which included witness interviews, found no indication of criminality.
No passengers or crew members aboard the train were injured during the incident.
Train service on the Port Jefferson Branch was temporarily suspended following the collision while police and MTA personnel conducted their investigation. Service resumed at approximately 9:49 a.m.
