Driver Who Killed 24-Year-Old Woman in Hit-and-Run Faces Indictment in Suffolk County

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – A Huntington Station man has been indicted on charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash that killed a 24-year-old Stony Brook resident in February 2025.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Sarkis Dadourian, 68, is accused of striking and killing 24-year-old Sampada Aduulla, with his car while she was crossing the intersection of Nesconset Highway and Hallock Road in Lake Grove on February 2, 2025.

The victim was fatally injured in the crash. Despite the severity of the crash, Dadourian allegedly fled the scene, leaving the victim without assistance.

“The decision to leave the scene of a crash that resulted in the death of a young woman made a tragic situation worse,” District Attorney Tierney said. “My office will seek to hold the defendant accountable for his actions that day.”

According to the investigation, at around 6:20 a.m. on February 2, Dadourian was driving eastbound on Nesconset Highway when he allegedly struck Aduulla as she crossed the road. Eyewitnesses reported that Dadourian initially stopped after the collision to inspect the damage, but instead of assisting the victim, he got back into his vehicle and fled east on Nesconset Highway.

A crucial eyewitness description of the vehicle involved led authorities to release information to the media, prompting a tip from a Nassau County auto body shop. The shop reported that a vehicle matching the description had been brought in by an individual claiming to have hit a deer.

Investigators seized the vehicle, and after further investigation, Dadourian surrendered himself to detectives on February 10, 2025.

On June 6, 2025, Dadourian was arraigned on an indictment before Supreme Court Justice Steven A. Pilewski for one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Death, a Class D felony.

The defendant was ordered to surrender his passport and placed on supervised release. He is due back in court on July 22, 2025.

If convicted, Dadourian faces a sentence ranging from 2 and 1/3 to 7 years in prison.
