Flames Explode Through Window in Fierce Copiague House Fire

COPIAGUE, N.Y. – Firefighters responded early Thursday morning to a house fire in Copiague that prompted a significant emergency response after reports of a person possibly trapped inside.

The fire, reported around 3:15 AM, drew a large response from Suffolk County Police and the Copiague Fire Department on South Strong Avenue between Pleasantview Court and Ferndale Court.

Upon arrival, police officers confirmed there was an active fire and initial reports suggested someone might still be inside the home.

Fire crews quickly went to work, stretching hose lines and gaining control of the fire. A thorough search of the home confirmed that no one was inside, and the blaze was knocked down without incident.

Assistance came from neighboring fire departments, including Lindenhurst, Amityville, and North Amityville, who responded as part of the mutual aid effort.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by officials.
