6 Injured, 2 Critical After Car Overturns in Queens Cross Island Parkway Crash
QUEENS, N.Y. — Six people were injured, two critically, after a multi-vehicle crash left one vehicle overturned on the Cross Island Parkway Saturday night, shutting down the northbound side of the highway.
The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. between exits 34 and 35, near Francis Lewis Boulevard.
One vehicle came to rest on its roof against the center divider, while another sustained significant damage. Debris from the collision was scattered across the parkway as emergency crews worked at the scene.
Six people in total were injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals. Two of the victims were reported to be in critical condition.
The severity of the collision prompted authorities to close all northbound lanes of the Cross Island Parkway while first responders treated the injured and investigators examined the scene.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
