Worker Crushed, Killed by Garbage Truck at Hicksville Facility on Labor Day

HICKSVILLE, N.Y. — A worker was killed after being crushed by a truck at a commercial vehicle service facility in Hicksville on Labor Day, officials said.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. Monday at Gabrielli Truck Sales & Service on South Oyster Bay Road near Evergreen Avenue.

Nassau County Police and the Hicksville Fire Department responded to the scene. According to fire officials, the worker was crushed and killed after a New York City Department of Sanitation garbage truck being serviced at the facility rolled over him.

The circumstances leading up to the fatality, including what caused the truck to roll over the worker, remain under investigation by police.

The victim’s identity has not been released.
