Crash Sends Parked Vehicle Onto Lawn, Narrowly Missing East Meadow House
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — A late-night crash in East Meadow sent a parked vehicle onto the front lawn of a nearby home Sunday night, narrowly avoiding a direct impact with the residence.
At approximately 10:35 p.m., officers from the Nassau County Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle that had crashed near the intersection of North Jerusalem Road and Bond Court.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the incident involved a single moving vehicle that struck a car parked along North Jerusalem Road.
The impact was powerful enough to propel the parked vehicle onto the front lawn of a nearby residence, where it damaged a flagpole before coming to rest just feet from the front of the home. The striking vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, came to a stop at the bottom of a driveway across the street.
The extent of the driver's injuries has not been released.
Residents who gathered outside as emergency crews worked at the scene said collisions in the area have become an ongoing concern.
"People race up and down this road all the time," one East Meadow resident told Priority News Network. "I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, honestly. It looks like everyone is alright, thankfully."
Police remained at the scene for an extended period as heavy rain continued to fall across the area. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
