4 Injured, Child Airlifted After Serious Crash on Long Island Expressway in Jericho
JERICHO, N.Y. — Four people were injured, including an 11-year-old boy who was airlifted to a hospital, following a serious two-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway Sunday evening.
According to police, the collision occurred at approximately 5:58 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway near Exit 41 when a 2013 Toyota Highlander and a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban collided.
Police said three occupants of the Suburban, including an adult male, an adult female, and a 13-year-old boy, were transported to a local hospital with injuries.
An 11-year-old boy riding in the Suburban also suffered a serious leg injury and was airlifted to a hospital for further treatment.
The crash prompted the closure of the eastbound lanes for several hours as emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
