EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — A 58-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing Hempstead Turnpike on Wednesday evening, just feet away from Nassau University Medical Center.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:56 p.m. on Wednesday near Clearmeadow Drive, where Nassau County Police said a 32-year-old woman driving a 2014 Lexus westbound on Hempstead Turnpike struck the pedestrian as she crossed the roadway.
First responders reportedly performed CPR on the victim before she was rushed to an area hospital. She was later pronounced dead.
Nassau County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
