Woman Arrested for DWI After Fatal Lindenhurst Motorcycle Crash
LINDENHURST, N.Y. — A 33-year-old Massapequa man was killed in a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning in Lindenhurst, and a 28-year-old woman was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, according to Suffolk County Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:42 a.m. on Montauk Highway at Chestnut Street.
According to police, the motorcyclist was operating a 2019 Harley-Davidson westbound on Montauk Highway when he attempted to pass two westbound vehicles. Investigators said the motorcycle struck the rear of a 2019 Dodge Ram and a 2023 Honda CR-V that had moved into the right lane before the rider was ejected from the motorcycle.
The 33-year-old rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested the driver of the Honda, a 28-year-old woman from Massapequa, and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated. She is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
The involved vehicles were impounded for safety inspections as detectives from the Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit continued their investigation into the fatal collision.
