Vehicle Overturns, Rolls Down Embankment Near Northern State Parkway in Plainview

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. — A driver was rescued after a vehicle overturned and rolled down an embankment Thursday morning, leaving the motorist trapped inside the wreckage near the Northern State Parkway in Plainview.

According to reports, the crash occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. on the entrance ramp to the westbound Northern State Parkway from the northbound Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway.

The Plainview Fire Department responded to the scene after a vehicle reportedly left the roadway, overturned, and rolled down an embankment before coming to rest on its roof at the bottom of the incline.

Firefighters, alongside officers from the Nassau County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau and Emergency Services Unit, worked to free the pinned driver using extrication tools.

The driver was successfully removed from the damaged vehicle and transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
