Dozens Protest Trump, Bruce Blakeman at Nassau Community College Ahead of President’s Long Island Visit
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — Dozens of protesters gathered on the Nassau Community College campus Friday morning ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit to the Nassau County Police Academy and Intelligence Center later that afternoon.
The demonstration took place in a designated “Free Speech Area” outside the Life Sciences building near Endo Boulevard and Perimeter Road. The area was positioned near an entrance being used by ticket holders attending Trump’s remarks at the police academy.
The demonstration was directed at Trump and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who is running for governor of New York in November.
Protesters gathered inside the designated area carrying signs and chanting as attendees began arriving on campus ahead of the president’s appearance.
At one point, demonstrators chanted “Shame! Shame! Shame!” as an SUV displaying thin blue line and American flags entered the campus and continued toward the police academy, where Trump was scheduled to deliver remarks.
A lone counter-protester carrying a “Back the Blue” flag stood outside the designated protest area.
Nassau County Police officers and Nassau Community College Campus Public Safety personnel were stationed in the area and assisted with traffic flow as vehicles entered the campus and preparations continued for the president’s arrival.
The demonstration remained peaceful throughout the morning, with no disturbances observed or reported.
Trump arrived on Long Island later Friday afternoon and visited the Nassau County Police Academy and Intelligence Center, where he delivered remarks focused on crime and public safety. Blakeman joined the president during the visit.
