President Donald Trump Visits Nassau County Police Academy on Long Island, Delivers Speech on Crime and Public Safety
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — President Donald Trump visited the Nassau County Police Department’s David Mack Center for Training and Intelligence on Friday, touring the facility and delivering remarks highlighting his administration’s efforts to combat crime and bolster public safety.
Trump arrived on Long Island late Friday afternoon aboard Marine One, landing at Mitchel Field before traveling by motorcade to the police training facility.
A significant law enforcement presence was deployed ahead of the president’s arrival, with police stationed throughout the surrounding area. Several roads were temporarily closed and traffic was diverted as authorities secured the route and areas surrounding the facility. Campus Public Safety personnel also assisted with traffic control and managing closures in and around the Nassau Community College campus.
Trump was joined by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who is running for governor of New York in November.
The president delivered his remarks from the Nassau County Police Academy, where dozens of Nassau County first responders stood behind him as he addressed public safety, crime and law enforcement.
Trump also toured the David Mack Center for Training and Intelligence, which serves as a major training and intelligence hub for the Nassau County Police Department.
The presidential visit drew opposition elsewhere on the Nassau Community College campus, where dozens of protesters gathered near the Life Sciences Building to voice their opposition to Trump and Blakeman. The demonstration remained separate from the secured area surrounding the presidential visit.
