3 Killed After SUV Crashes Into Tree, Bursts Into Flames In Bethpage
BETHPAGE, N.Y. — Three people were killed in a fiery crash early Sunday morning after their SUV left the road and struck a tree, bursting into flames near Bethpage State Park.
First responders rushed to Stymus Avenue near Plainview Road at around 1:00 AM after an SUV left the roadway and slammed into a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to burst into flames.
Firefighters from the Bethpage Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fierce car fire within minutes.
Officials confirmed on Sunday afternoon that three people were killed in the single-vehicle crash.
Police say the 2022 Dodge Durango was traveling eastbound on Stymus Avenue near Carol Drive before leaving the road and crashing into a tree.
The roads surrounding the crash site were temporarily shut down as detectives started their investigation into the fatal crash. They have since reopened.
