According to police, as officers approached the moped, both occupants allegedly became aggressive. The male suspect, identified as Jason Adams, attempted to flee on the moped but was unsuccessful before abandoning the vehicle and running into a wooded area on foot.
Officers from multiple units quickly converged on the scene, establishing a perimeter while searching the heavily wooded area. Several K9 teams and the Nassau County Police Aviation Unit were deployed to assist in locating the suspect.
The search ultimately led officers to Kings Building Material on Henry Street, a nearby building materials business, where the suspect was located hiding on top of a large elevated industrial hopper.
