Steamroller Runs Over Worker at Syosset Synagogue Job Site

MUTTONTOWN, N.Y. — A construction worker was seriously injured and airlifted Wednesday evening after a devastating accident at a job site in the parking lot of the North Shore Synagogue.

The incident occurred shortly before 5:25 PM at the North Shore Synagogue on Muttontown-Eastwoods Road, when a worker fell from an asphalt paving machine, striking his head and losing consciousness. According to witnesses, he was then run over by a steamroller that was operating nearby.

Emergency crews from the Nassau County Police Department and the Syosset Fire Department responded quickly and called for a medevac due to the serious nature of the worker’s injuries.

The victim was airlifted from the nearby Woodside Club golf course to a trauma center for further treatment.

All construction work at the site was halted following the incident.
