CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - A smoke condition caused by an HVAC issue prompted an early morning evacuation at the Residence Inn Long Island Islip on Sunday.
At around 12:15 AM on Sunday, a smoke condition inside the Residence Inn Long Island Islip on Court House Drive triggered an evacuation of the entire hotel, prompting a rapid response from local fire crews.
Guests were ushered outside as a precaution while firefighters worked to identify the source of the smoke. After a thorough investigation, fire officials determined the cause to be an HVAC malfunction.
