Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck by SUV in Uniondale
UNIONDALE, N.Y. — A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV in Uniondale late Thursday night, according to Nassau County Police.
Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department's Homicide Squad said the crash occurred on Jerusalem Avenue near Meadowbrook Road at approximately 10:13 p.m. on Thursday.
According to investigators, a 39-year-old man was walking northbound on Jerusalem Avenue when he was struck by a 2025 Nissan Pathfinder that was traveling westbound. The SUV was being operated by a 45-year-old man.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Several witnesses reported first responders performing CPR on the victim before he was rushed to an area hospital.
Police said the driver of the Nissan SUV remained at the scene following the collision.
The investigation is still ongoing by officials.
