Car Fire Erupts at Busy Hicksville Intersection, Driver Escapes Injury

HICKSVILLE, N.Y. — Firefighters quickly extinguished a vehicle fire Wednesday morning after a sedan caught fire at a busy intersection in Hicksville, sending heavy smoke into the air.

The Bethpage and Hicksville Fire Departments responded at approximately 10:15 a.m. to the intersection of South Broadway and New South Road for a vehicle fire.

The driver was able to safely exit the sedan after smoke began billowing from the engine compartment.

First responders arrived as flames rapidly spread across the front of the vehicle. Firefighters moved in and quickly brought the blaze under control before extinguishing the remaining pockets of fire throughout the car.

No injuries were reported.

The vehicle sustained significant fire damage to its front end.
