Car Crashes Through Storefront, Damages Displays and Merchandise In East Massapequa

EAST MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. — A sedan crashed through the front of an East Massapequa home goods store Wednesday evening, leaving shattered glass, damaged displays and scattered merchandise in its path before stopping near the middle of the occupied business.

The South Farmingdale Fire Department and Nassau County Police responded shortly before 5:45 p.m. to Domi Home in the Carman’s Plaza shopping center after a Toyota Camry crashed through a large glass display window.

The vehicle continued several feet into the store, knocking over displays and merchandise before coming to a stop.

The two occupants of the vehicle were evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene but were not injured.

The store was open and occupied at the time of the crash. One witness said a woman had walked past the large window just seconds before the Camry came crashing through it.

No injuries were reported among customers or employees inside the store.

The collision caused extensive visible damage to the storefront and the immediate interior of the business. Shattered glass covered the floor near the entrance, while shelving, displays and merchandise were knocked over along the vehicle’s path.

Firefighters could be seen working around the Camry inside the store as crews assessed the scene and cleared debris from around the vehicle.

A tow truck later responded and removed the Camry from inside the store.
