Driver, Dog Rescued From Overturned Vehicle on Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway
BETHPAGE, N.Y. — A driver and a dog were rescued after becoming trapped inside a vehicle that overturned and rolled down an embankment along the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Bethpage Wednesday night.
The crash happened at approximately 8:35 p.m. as the driver was exiting the northbound lanes at Exit 8. The vehicle rolled down an embankment and came to rest on its driver's side, trapping the driver and dog inside.
Nassau County Police and the Bethpage Fire Department responded to the scene, where first responders worked to free both occupants.
Both the driver and dog were safely removed from the vehicle. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the dog was not reported injured.
The northbound Exit 8 ramp to Powell Avenue remained temporarily closed as emergency crews continued operating at the scene and worked to remove the vehicle from the ditch.
