3 Hurt After UPS Delivery Truck and Pickup Truck Collide in Oyster Bay
OYSTER BAY, N.Y. — Three people suffered minor injuries following a collision involving a UPS delivery truck and a pickup truck Thursday afternoon in Oyster Bay.
At approximately 3:20 p.m., the Oyster Bay Fire Department and Nassau County Police responded to the intersection of Mill River Road and Capitol Heights Road for a reported two-vehicle crash.
According to witnesses, the UPS delivery truck was traveling on Capitol Heights Road toward Mill River Road when it collided with a pickup truck in the intersection.
Emergency responders treated three people for minor injuries at the scene. Firefighters secured the vehicles while Nassau County Police closed the intersection and diverted traffic as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
The crash also caused damage to a decorative wall and the front garden of the Coach Meeting House restaurant, which was preparing to open for Thursday evening dinner service.
Due to the involvement of a commercial vehicle, the Nassau County Police Department’s Motor Carrier Unit responded to conduct a post-crash inspection of the UPS delivery truck. Such inspections are routine following serious collisions involving commercial vehicles in Nassau County.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
