PLAINVIEW, N.Y. - A small generator fire broke out at Northwell Plainview Hospital, prompting a swift response from emergency crews and hospital personnel on Friday afternoon.

The fire was reported at approximately 12:00 PM in the rear of the hospital, near the facility’s oxygen room — a high-risk area due to the presence of compressed gases. The Plainview and Bethpage Fire Departments were immediately notified and responded rapidly.

Multiple dry-chemical fire extinguishers were used to contain the small fire. Photos from the scene show dozens of those extinguishers in the area where the fire occurred.
