Deck Fire at Seaford Home Draws Response From Multiple Departments

SEAFORD, N.Y. — Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire in Seaford late Monday morning after flames broke out at the rear of the home.

Multiple 911 calls reporting the fire at a residence on Jackson Avenue, north of Merrick Road, were received shortly after 10:25 a.m. on Monday.

The Seaford Fire Department responded to the scene, where arriving firefighters confirmed a working fire and began efforts to extinguish the flames.

Witnesses reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the rear of the property before calling 911.

The fire appears to have started on a deck at the rear of the home. The heat generated by the blaze was intense enough to melt a section of fencing separating the property from a neighboring home.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames, and the fire was brought under control.

The Wantagh Fire Department and Massapequa Fire Department were among the neighboring agencies that responded to assist Seaford firefighters at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
