Police Escort Rushes Motorcyclist to Hospital After Fatal Jericho Crash

JERICHO, N.Y. — A 56-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon after colliding with a vehicle making a left turn on Route 106 in Jericho, Nassau County Police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:28 p.m. near Cedar Swamp Road and Old Jericho Turnpike.

According to detectives, the 56-year-old man was riding a 2025 Indian motorcycle northbound on Route 106 when a 32-year-old woman driving a 2020 Subaru made a left turn from the southbound lanes of Route 106 onto Old Jericho Turnpike, causing the collision.

The motorcycle struck the Subaru’s rear passenger-side door, leaving significant damage along the side of the vehicle.

Jericho Fire Department members and Nassau County Police responded to the scene. First responders treated the motorcyclist for critical injuries before urgently transporting him to an area hospital.

Nassau County Police provided a full escort for the ambulance, temporarily shutting down North Broadway to clear a path during the emergency transport. Despite those efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

The Subaru driver remained at the scene and was reportedly not injured.

Nassau County Police Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the crash.
